Visiting the Gynecologist

Women’s Health Associates provides a range of gynecologic services, from annual check-ups and routine Pap smears to procedures performed in our office or surgeries in the hospital. We provide contraceptive counseling and family planning services, including insertion of IUD’s. We also encourage women to achieve a better quality of life through healthy practices and preventive care.

What is Gynecology?

Gynecology is an area of medicine that specializes in the health and wellness of women with special interest in their reproductive health. Women’s Health Associates offers comprehensive gynecological care. Our team is made up of board-certified Physicians, Physician’s Assistants and Nurse Practitioners that combine compassion and extensive training to provide top level care. Our staff combines the newest gynecological tools, procedures and techniques to create the best outcomes for your care. 

Many of the conditions we diagnose and treat are common reproductive or women’s health conditions like PCOS (or polycsystic ovary syndrome), menopause, urinary incontinence and endometriosis. We also can help patients manage uterine fibroids, osteoporosis and other conditions.

Wellness Checks

Our wellness checks cover your health history and include a physical exam, including a breast exam and pelvic exam. A pap test is done during these exams to screen for potential problems if needed. Breast exams are an important diagnostic tool to help catch breast cancer in its early stages. 

STI Screenings and Prevention

Our team can help with STI screenings (commonly referred to as STDs) and treatment as well. Regular STI screenings are an important part of gynecological care for many patients. Treating STIs early can be vital to a patient’s overall health. Additionally, our team can help with STI prevention methods. 

Contraception

We offer contraceptive care, vaccines and hormone therapies. Common vaccines that may be part of your gynecological care visits include TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) and Gardasil® for HPV. We can also give booster shots for other vaccines like annual flu vaccines. 

When working with patients, contraceptive care is a big concern. We offer a wide variety of contraceptive services and can find an option that works for you specifically. IUDs, birth control pills and implants are some of the common contraceptive methods available. Family planning can be a stressful time in your life and our team is here to help you make informed decisions. 

Women’s Health Associates also offers many other common procedures. Many of our procedures can be done in office while some require a surgical suite. Some of the procedures we offer are colposcopy, ultrasounds, IUD insertion and removal, pelvic organ prolapse and pessary insertion, screening mammograms, and much more.
