My love of skiing brought me to Idaho from the San Francisco Bay Area in 1981. At the time I was working in a ski shop and decided I needed a new adventure, so I came to Idaho. I first landed in Boise then relocating to Pocatello for school at Idaho State University, studying Nutrition and Dietetics with a minor in Biology. While at ISU, I met the coolest Nurse Practitioner, Carol Morgan. She worked in the student health center, and that is when I decided I wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner as her approach to health care was unique and personable. She was a great role model. After completing my BS in Dietetics and Biology, I entered the nursing program and took the fast track to a 4-year nursing degree, in about three semesters. I was in the first NP class held at ISU. As a dual certified Family Nurse Practitioner, I chose the area of Women’s Health as a specialty. My 25+-year Nursing career has brought me much satisfaction as I have had the honor and privilege of caring for women in all stages of their lives, and then caring for their girls as they mature, and then their girls. I am honored and humbled when my patients entrust their daughters’ and granddaughters’ health care to me; I love really knowing my patients: their medical histories, and their psychosocial environments. I am particularly interested in preventive aspects of women’s health, menopausal management, young women’s health, and health education, especially STD prevention and management of all types of contraception. In my personal life I enjoy the vast outdoors in Idaho and beyond, particularly outdoor activities like skiing, river activities, biking, and gardening. Music is a passion, and I incorporate that into daily living. I am the proud mother of two boys, and two regularly active dogs: a border collie who loves to swim, and a chihuahua/Boston mix who is the lifeguard- so you can usually find us out by a river or pond in or out of town!
