Georgianna Ainslie DNP, CNM

I received my nursing degree from Seattle University in 1982 and graduated from the USAF Nurse-Midwifery Residency program (associated with Georgetown University) in 1987. I completed a Master of Science degree in Midwifery from Philadelphia University in 2005, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Frontier Nursing University in 2014. I have practiced full-scope midwifery in the United States Air Force from 1987 to 1990, and as a civilian in Tri-Cities, Washington from 1990 to 1995, St. Cloud, Minnesota from 1995 to 1998, and in Boise since 1999. I believe strongly in the midwifery model of care, which centers on the understanding that pregnancy is a normal event happening within the life of a woman and her family, rather than a medical condition. I enjoy building relationships with my clients that may span years of our lives, coming alongside them during pregnancy, labor, birth and general health care issues; educating, coaching and supporting, and watching out for complications. I love being present for a birth, then watching the woman grow and mature, right along with her ‘newborn’ as we go along through the years; having more babies, or just coming in for annual exams or minor health issues.

I have participated in faith-based short-term missions to Bulgaria, Honduras, Mexico, Kenya, the Navajo Nation in Arizona, and the Dream Center in Los Angeles (so far). Hobbies I particularly enjoy are reading, quilting, jigsaw puzzles and antique-collecting.
